Pandemic Poetry II

Change
Trapped in your house, in your thoughts, alone.
You're questioning what’s next? What do I do?
Sitting on your bed, why is the room so blue?
4 walls around me and that’s all I could stare at,
No one to talk to,
you feel more and more trapped
My room is a mess, no motivation and that’s that
Next week school starts, but online, they asked if I would want to
go in person, but I declined.
Suddenly, I start to think and set goals for the new school year
Maybe I should do sports,
maybe I would like to cheer.
I want to work hard and give it all I got,
quarantine can’t stop me, I know I can achieve a lot!
I am now a terrier, school spirit is back
quarantine was strange but I have to work hard to change!

Time
Time is the only thing in this world that can’t be faced.
January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December
Every month was a disaster.
The worst month of all, the one event we never expected.
The month of April.
Or should I say, the month of loss?
The month of grief
The month where our plans were crushed, and time we can’t get back.
Family, we can’t get back.
The month of quarantine.
Ugh, that word, quarantine.
Isolation
Depression
A thing that changed everything and lasted 2020 making its way to 2021
Who knows when this will end.
For how long must we have to suffer.
For how long must we hold on to nothing but faith.

Hybrid Learning
Staring at a screen day after day
Thinking to myself when it’ll be Saturday
Receiving email after email about what’s due at 11:59
But then gets a reminder to stay stress-free at the same time
Constantly having to hear “Turn your camera on” class after class
While I listen to the girl in the upper right corner give sass
I hate Hybrid Learning
Especially Monday morning
I miss going to school to see my friends
So Hybrid Learning has to end

Let's pray for next year
I pray that it's great
I hope we go to school
And stay out late
I hope I can enjoy being a teen
And meet up with friends
Instead of through a screen
Through voice or through text
To go to the mall
And walk up the stairs
To take off my mask
And not see the stares
To live fun and safe
Walk around and breath
Not be scared to get sick
To cough or to sneeze
To see next year
And pray no more covid
I hope it gets better
It will, I just know it
We will get through this
And see 2021
To be a better year
And have lots of fun
